DR. JAMES GAY
CONSOLIDATED HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 230 (IL)
Dr. Gay attributes much of his professional and personal success to his roots on Chicago’s Southside. His senior history teacher’s obvious love of history and dedication to his students led Dr. Gay to study both subjects at Northern Illinois University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree. He went on to obtain a Master of Arts from Northeastern Illinois University and an Educational Doctorate from Loyola University of Chicago. His 25-year educational career includes being a teacher and coach and ten years as Principal at De La Salle Institute. He joined District 230 as Assistant Principal at Andrew High School and then was Principal there for four years. In 2006, he was named Deputy Superintendent and the next year he became Superintendent. He earned the Golden Achievement Award from the Illinois Chapter/National School Public Relations Association and is a Phi Delta Kappa Distinguished Educator.
